Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area

Khan Khentii Strictly Protected area is in Khentii Mountain Range comprising 12271 square kilometers in northeast of Ulaanbaatar capital city.  In turns of preservation of world endangered species of flora & fauna, over 800 archeological sites , tombs and Mongolian royal ancestors order about strictly protect this wilderness region the part of Khan Khentii has Strictly Protected in 1992.  Highest peak Asralt Khaihan 2799, 3 meters a.s.l and sacred mountain Burkhan Khaldun which has been worshiping since 1818, locate in its terrain too. In 1996, the strictly protected area has inscribed on “World Heritage list” by the UNESCO.
Khan Khentii is a forested wilderness area with numerous rivers, springs and streams, bogs between the ridges which are the source of Tuul, Kherlen, Orknon Rivers. It is said to be watershed of central Asia. Comparing with other ranges the Khan Khentii is not high, uppermost treeless and almost uninhabited than nomads. Khan Khentii strictly protected area covers several province, one Khentii province considered to be Great Chinggis Khan birthplace.

Itinerary:

Day1. City tour
Today Incredible Mongolian crew picks up you from airport or railway station then will transfer to hotel. Capital city tour with full sightseeing begins after accommodating at the hotel. Explore “Sukhbaatar main square” where city zero point. Enjoy Zaisan Hill- WWII memorial monument and it is most observing spot of whole city. Get introduced Mongolian Buddhist religious center “Gandan” monastery where 27 meters tall standing golden “Janaraisag” Buddha and monks live chanting ceremony then visit to “Mongolian Natural history museum”. Stay overnight at hotel (L)

Day2. Terelj National Park - horse trial start
After breakfast, drive for 70 km to east of Ulaanbaatar to Terelj National Park– most exciting spot near the city. You will explore the extraordinary formation of rocks and stones, which is some of them looks quite similar with Turtle, person who reading book and others. The Terelj National Park joins to Khan Khentii strictly protected area. Meet with your private horse trial finder then start your adventured riding near Terelj river tributary means next to tributary. Your riding will head to Khan Khentii wilderness. Visit to local nomadic family. Get introduced the way of nomadic living, culture and hospitality. Lunch will be on pick nick.
At the beginning of Baruun Bayan Area, the beginning of Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area so called Sambartai, will camp in a tent.  (B, L, D)

Day3. Khavirgiin Davaa
Early in the morning, after breakfast your crew will start riding towards Zuuh Chekustei, a today’s final spot.  At on the road lunch break in Khavirgiin Davaa.  Khavirgiin Davaa is a mountain pass of Altan Ulgii- main mount of the great Khentii range. In its terrain second peak Altan Ulgii exist. Relax in the wilderness.  Continuation of riding will head to Zuuh Chekustei- locals given name for that area, landscape is likely mountainous and forested zone. Your horse riding crew will choose convenient place for comfortable camping overnight, enjoy stars in the blue sky. (B, L, D)

Day4. Khagiin Khar Nuur – the Lake
Silent beauty Lake Khagiin Khar locates in Sothern side of Baga Khentii range, in the middle of three aiguilles such as Asgat, Khiidiin and Khunkher mounts, occupying 4 square km in 1800 meters above sea levels. Mother earth made its rout hard to across, travelers traverse natural difficulties such as marsh, bog, stream, ex. In some way gentle meadow and forest. On the way, incredible wildlife animals might occur because it is the range where wildlife only inhabited. The lake name means Black lake which is shadowed in larch or pine tree forested mounts. Lunch will have near Khonog Tolgoi area.   Then ride more to Khagiin Khar Lake. Once you reach there other relaxing activities may do.

Day5. Khagiin Khar Nuur- free time & relax
In your free day enjoy the area. Fishing, bonfire and trekking available . Overnight in tent. (B, L, D)

Day6. The way back - Zuuh Chekuustei
Today the trip is turning back via same way towards Zuuh Chekuustei. Overnight in a tent (B, L, D)

Day7. Terelj national park
Early in the morning ride your horses towards Suvragtai means lonely stupa. Your horse trip finder with horses will leave you there and say goodbye. After your adventured and not easy way trip on the horse back ends. Our company van will pick up you from Suvragtai area to transfer Terelj national park locating tourist camp where you can refresh and relax in Mongolian traditional ger. Stay at tourist ger camp. (B. Day8. Ulaanbaatar free time
Private transfer to the hotel in Ulaanbaatar, after refreshing and relaxing at the hotel, visit “National history museum” get introduced with Mongolian rich history. Incredible Mongolia inviting you to Mongolian traditional folklore performance including contortion, throat singing and many others… evening dine at the comfortable restaurant. (B, L, D)

Day9. End of the trip
For your international departure we have private transfer back to international airport or railway station from hotel. End of the tour. (B)

Please consider following:
If you are planning to do horse riding tour in Mongolian wilderness, it requires some competence and healthy background, particularly riders who do not ride often as proficient.  People over 10 to 65 years old, weighted 220 pounds at most, allowed make this kind of tour. Any rider who have heart, lung, brain sickness and one after operation or at over getting period, are not allowed riding.  The notice involves pregnant women too. We are predicting travelers from risk that could suffer at elevation over 6563 ft.
